ZEUS MEMORIAL
“Zeus” was a puppy from Pulaski County Sheriff Department canine “Rascal” and mother “Sheena”. He was with Renee and I from the time he was six weeks old. He was raised as a Patrol/Narcotics dog but became so much more. He was certified through the N.N.D.D.A. “Zeus was trained for narcotics, criminal apprehension, area search and building search. We competed in narcotic competitions and personal protection tournaments in several different states. During his tenth year of life, he was still competing with the young dogs and still acting like one. In this year he will mostly be remembered for his drive and stubbornness to not want to recall. In his mind, the punishment was always worth the bite. He also acquired a fetish for biting the decoy on the gluteus maximus. He competed in eight personal protection trials in 2004. He placed first three times, second in one trial and third in one trial. To Renee and I “Zeus” will be most remembered for his first trail, after a five year layoff, in 2003. His performance in Blytheville Arkansas was in our minds, perfect. He made no mistakes and we were so proud of him. He took first place in that trial and again in our hearts. It was relationship with our newborn that surprised us both. Megan would pull his hair and ears. She would climb on him and he would just look at her and take it with a grain of salt. "Zeus" was compassionate and loving with all of us.
“Zeus” went quickly in January to kidney failure. Putting him to sleep was so difficult for us. I just hope he knows how much we loved him and that he will be remembered, forever. |
